Coldspring® Announces Gold Certification of Milbank Quarry

Following facility inspections by NSF International’s sustainability division, which develops standards and conducts audits to protect the environment, the Milbank operations received certification for all quarry operations at the location as well as the on-site processing facility. The Milbank operation produces Carnelian® and Prairie Brown varieties of granite. This material has been used on projects throughout the country with some of the notable projects including the FDR Memorial in Washington, D.C., Denver Union Station in Denver, CO, and the Banks (Smale Riverfront Park) in Cincinnati, OH, among many others.

Architectural and design firms now have until Monday, May 7 to enter the 2018 Brick in Architecture Awards, the nation’s premiere architectural design competition featuring fired-clay brick. The Brick Industry Association’s (BIA’s) annual awards honor outstanding, innovative and sustainable architecture that incorporate clay brick products as the predominant exterior building or paving material.

After more than 60 years in business the owners decided to expand their operations into space adjacent to the business that they had formerly rented to various restaurants. Stokes Architecture was brought on board to keep the nostalgic feeling of the original restaurant while designing the restaurant expansion in a tight space. AAMA releases 2017/2018 market studies, offers forecast of fenestration industry trends

The American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) has released the "AAMA 2017/2018 Study of the U.S. Market for Windows, Doors and Skylights." This bi-annual report delivers timely information on residential and non-residential market trends and product relationships for windows, doors, skylights, curtain walls and storefronts. Forecasts are based on projections of construction activity as of March 2018.

High Performance Systems Performs Floor Installation for Electrical Generation Facility in New Jersey

This flooring project was completed for one of the largest electrical generation plants in New Jersey. More specifically the new flooring system would be installed in the machine shop of the facility. In the machine shop old generators and parts were refurbished which, required heavy machining equipment, forklifts, and a 50-ton hoist. Due to the heavy loads and substances required to complete daily machine shop operations, the floor needed to have excellent scratch, abrasion, impact and chemical resistance. To complete the project, High Performance Systems, a local resinous flooring contractor was hired to replace the existing 14,000 sq. ft. floor with a new epoxy system in 3 days. To avoid a plant shutdown, the project was scheduled to start on New Year’s Eve.

Calloway Johnson Moore & West of Lexington, PA was hired as the architecture firm for the development. Due to the heavy industrial use of the facility, CENTRIA’s Formawall® Dimension Series® insulated metal panels were chosen to provide thermal efficiency as well as wind and flame resistance. The panels offer superior weather protection, and deliver a sleek façade. The CENTRIA metal wall panels were coated in Sherwin-Williams Coil Coating’s Fluropon® Classic metallic coating in the colors Pewter and Silversmith - providing an air-like aesthetic to the facility’s exterior with the main overcast gray tone perfectly accented by the dark gray.
