Sept. 7 webinar to provide insulating glass units guidance

The Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance (FGIA) will host a webinar entitled “Quality, Compatibility and Performance Requirements for Insulating Glass Units” on Tues., Sept. 7 at 11:30 a.m. Eastern. This webinar will provide guidance to IG fabricators and window manufacturers using existing technology for edge seal design along with selection of sealants, desiccants, spacers, gases, glass and other components used for the manufacture of insulating glass.

OSHA Voluntary Protection Program serves as valuable safety resource for plants

Participants at the Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance (FGIA) 2021 Virtual Summer Conference learned more about a voluntary safety program focused on excellence from one of its administrators as well as an FGIA member company participant. Brad Baptiste, regional Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) manager for OSHA Region VIII, and Rob Grommesh, insulating glass (IG) technical service manager for Cardinal Glass Industries, shared how manufacturers can succeed in safety through the OSHA VPP, which seeks to help manufacturing sites reach zero incidents and injuries.

Lisa Heschong shares data on benefits of daylighting at FGIA 2021 Virtual Summer Conference

Lisa Heschong, author and scientific researcher, took to the virtual stage during the Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance (FGIA) 2021 Virtual Summer Conference to share her findings on the benefits of daylighting and window views. A licensed architect, Fellow of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) and a founding principal of the Heschong Mahone Group (HMG), Heschong spoke about the many benefits of daylighting and how the fenestration and glazing industry is poised to take advantage of these attributes, all of which is covered in her book, “Visual Delight in Architecture: Daylight, Vision and View”.

2021 U.S. Green Building Council Mid-Atlantic and Northeast Region Leadership Award recipients announced

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) announced its 2021 USGBC Leadership Award recipients of the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast region during its USGBC Live virtual conference. Citigroup, Harvard University, LG North America, Colgate-Palmolive Company were among recipients recognized for contributions to sustainable, healthy, equitable and resilient buildings and communities.

FGIA to host hybrid Fall Conference with in-person and online options

In support of helping the industry continue to move toward re-opening, the Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance (FGIA) announces that its 2021 Fall Conference will offer an in-person event option. The conference will benefit from a hybrid format in which participants may choose to either attend physically at the Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass in Phoenix, or connect virtually.
