As the Scottish poet Robert Burns once wrote (English translation from Wikipedia page Auld Lang Syne):

And there’s a hand my trusty friend!

And give me a hand o’ thine!

And we’ll take a right good-will draught,

for auld lang syne.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the many authors and associations who have contributed thought-provoking articles and gave us ‘a hand’ with great ideas, interesting projects and discussions on the latest in sustainable building and design. The most read articles in 2017 include:

Jon M. Huntsman Hall at Utah State University—the next evolution in business school design – a project contributed to PRISM by LMN Architects. We offer a special thanks to LMN Architects who have contributed a number of interesting projects which exemplify sustainable design at its finest!

The Jack Daniels Employee Resource Center was another interesting project detailing the use of Bona’s wood floor stains, sealants and waterborne coatings for an employee resource – a basketball court – for Jack Daniels’ employees. Should all of us be so lucky!

The impact of color on healthcare design – A look at 2017 trends by Dee Schlotter– Sr. Color Marketing Manager, PPG Architectural Coatings, U.S., was one of top five articles, as healthcare design trends shift to more patient- and employee- focused design, with wellness and healthiness now in the forefront of design.

414 Light Street to stand as the tallest residential tower in Baltimore  a Transit-Oriented Development project with interior designer Kari Whitman, was the fourth most popular article as cities build up with mixed-used projects in various stages of construction throughout the U.S.

And one of my personal favorites, Ecodistricts: Building-Based Sustainability Expands to Communities by Christine Mondor, who leads the urban design and planning practice at evolveEA. This article was originally published in Viride, a new publication of the Green Building Alliance. Thanks GBA!

There are many people and associations on our thank you list, and cannot express our gratitude enough for all of the fantastic articles submitted to us in 2017.

We are excited to bring your more trending technology and design news in the sustainable built environment in 2018 beginning with features from OZ Architecture on sustainability and senior living, and Terrapin Bright Green’s “The Economics in Biophilia” in the January/February 2018 online edition (metal coatings, green walls and floors also in the edition!).

As Robert Burns so eloquently wrote “And we’ll take a right good-will draught, for auld lang syne.”

Happy Holidays from your friends at PRISM!
