Three new leaders elected at AIA Conference on Architecture 2018

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) announces three new leaders to its Board of Directors, which were elected Thursday night at the AIA Conference on Architecture 2018 (A’18). At the meeting, AIA delegates elected include: L. Jane Frederick, FAIA as the 2019 first vice president/2020 president-elect; Jason Winters, AIA as the 2019-2020 secretary; and Jessica Sheridan, AIA as the at-large director.

AIA 2030 Commitment invites engineers

Engineers can now join architects in signing up for The American Institute of Architects (AIA) 2030 Commitment to measure progress towards reducing energy and carbon in the design of buildings. The program provides a framework of energy targets, metrics and a comprehensive data tool that allows signatories to the commitment to track progress towards net zero carbon by 2030. Currently there are 522 firms signed onto the 2030 Commitment. Last year, the program had 21 percent more firms actively engaged in the program and sharing annual data.

Architects around the world convene in New York for the AIA Conference on Architecture

The AIA Conference on Architecture 2018 (A’18) is developed specifically for architects and will bring AIA’s Blueprint for Better campaign to life. Attendees will participate in cutting-edge education sessions that will provide insights into designing a smarter, safer and healthier built environment. Additionally, A’18 will offer more than 750 programs including, approximately 365 educational sessions, 185 events, 225 tours and almost 800 design exhibits.

Klyde Warren Park Wins AIA Collaborative Achievement Award

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) announced Klyde Warren Park, a freeway deck park in Dallas designed by OJB Landscape Architecture (OJB), as the recipient of the 2018 Collaborative Achievement Award. This award “recognizes and encourages distinguished achievements of allied professionals, clients, organizations, architect teams, knowledge communities, and others who have had a beneficial influence on or advanced the architectural profession.” The park will be honored at the 2018 AIA Conference on Architecture in New York.

Stephen Ayers, FAIA, honored with the 2018 AIA Thomas Jefferson Award

Stephen Ayers, FAIA, Architect of the Capitol, has been selected as the 2018 recipient of the Thomas Jefferson Award for Public Architecture. The Thomas Jefferson Award for Public Architecture recognizes architects in the public and private sectors, public officials, or other individuals who design distinguished public facilities and/or who advocate for design excellence.
