Dodge Momentum Index moves higher in October

Dodge Momentum Index October’s increase was due entirely to a recovery in institutional planning projects, which had stepped back over the previous few months. Institutional planning moved 22.8% higher in the month while commercial planning lost 0.5%.

Danni Washington, TV Host and Ocean Explorer, Announced as Keynote Speaker for Green Schools Conference & Expo

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) announced that TV personality and science communicator Danni Washington will keynote the annual Green Schools Conference & Expo (GSCE), taking place March 2-4, 2020, at the Hilton Portland Downtown in Portland, Ore. GSCE is the only national event to bring together people who lead, operate, build and teach in U.S. schools. GSCE will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2020. Registration is currently open.

The award was presented at an Oct. 18th awards ceremony at the InterContinental Mark Hopkins in San Francisco.

Metsä Wood awards Estonian start-up Team 99 for an eco-friendly modular design

Metsä Wood, a Finnish engineered wood product company, has awarded the Estonian start-up Team 99 for its innovative design of a module that can be used to construct buildings of different sizes and shapes, at the same time reducing their overall carbon footprint. The module has been completely designed using LVL (laminated veneer lumber) products.

BIA extends deadline for 2019 Brick in Architecture Awards

The Brick Industry Association (BIA) has extended the deadline for entries to November 7. Eligible projects include any work of architecture completed since January 1, 2014 in which new clay brick products comprise the predominant exterior building or paving material (over 50 percent) including: face or hollow brick, building brick, thin brick, paving brick, glazed brick, structural glazed facing tile, new clay brick products in special shapes and/or a combination of any of these aforementioned units.
