IIBEC announces hire of Emily Lorenz as Senior Director of Technical Services

Emily Lorenz, PE, will represent the association as a liaison to various outside organizations, including supporting its initiatives in relation to building codes and standards. “Emily’s experience as chair of ASTM Committee E60 and as a member of ASTM Committee E06 gives us confidence that she will be a great advocate for IIBEC’s positions on building-enclosure-related issues at code hearings and elsewhere throughout the industry,” stated IIBEC CEO/EVP Brian Pallasch, CAE. “We are excited to welcome her to the IIBEC team,” he added.

Glass topics take center stage at 2019 AAMA Fall Conference

Glass was a large focus among the topics addressed during the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) Fall Conference, which incorporated speakers from the Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance (IGMA). During the summer, the memberships of AAMA and IGMA both voted to proceed with combining into one organization with a new name, Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance (FGIA), beginning Jan. 1, 2020. The IGMA speakers took center stage to inform those at the conference about the effect hurricanes have on insulating glass unit performance, as well as how to wash and cut glass and how to conduct a frost point test.

Intertek Regional Sales Director discusses managing risk during AAMA Fall Conference

In a session hosted by Intertek, participants of the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) 2019 National Fall Conference in Austin, Texas, learned techniques for managing risk. A focus was placed on effective pre-construction laboratory mock-ups (PMUs), as well as quality control field testing in a presentation by Intertek Regional Sales Director, Jose Colon. Colon’s presentation reviewed the performance characteristics of a building’s exterior walls that can be gained through the testing process.
