CARNEGIE SCIENCE CENTER’S NEW PPG SCIENCE PAVILION™ AWARDED LEED GOLD CERTIFICATION
Carnegie Science Center announced that the new PPG SCIENCE PAVILION™ has achieved LEED® Gold Certification, a prestigious honor for the stunning addition to the North Shore science and technology museum.
Indovina Associates Architects, LaQuatra Bonci Associates, Turner Construction Company, and Oxford Development Company executed the design and construction of the expansion, building the structure to LEED’s environment-focused specifications. The building is coated with low- and no-volatile organic compound* PPG products, including PPG PAINTS™ SPEEDHIDE® interior paint, MEGASEAL™ epoxy by PPG, and more.

Nature, technology, and community meet in the concept design of Pittsburgh International Airport’s Terminal Modernization Program
As part of a special board meeting and the annual State of the Airport event, the Allegheny County Airport Authority Board of Directors approved a visionary concept design for the Terminal Modernization Program at Pittsburgh International Airport. The design team joint venture of architectural and engineering firms Gensler and HDR in association with luis vidal + architects, were awarded the design contract in July 2018. They have been studying the Pittsburgh region and taking their inspiration directly from the rolling hills and rivers, neighborhoods and communities, and new economic diversity that has led to Pittsburgh’s re-emergence over the past few decades.

A 90,411 square-foot theater complex, the Playhouse features a total of 91 rooms including a magnificent lobby with a three story wide-open space with a grand staircase and tucked-in spaces for students to gather; 550-seat PNC Theatre whose backstage is visible from the street, offering a glimpse into performing arts classes; main floor which includes a paint shop, 2,738-square-foot sound stage three stories high, 15-foot-high catwalk and 24-foot-high ceilings to provide professional-level learning opportunities to students in multiple disciplines, including cinematography, audio work, lighting work and aesthetics.
