The Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance (FGIA) will host a webinar entitled “AAMA Hardware Standards and Updates” on Tues., Aug. 17 at 11:30 a.m. Eastern. This webinar will cover recent updates and significant changes being made to FGIA hardware-focused documents, including AAMA 904, Voluntary Specification for Multi-Bar Hinges in Window Applications, AAMA 906, Specification for Sliding Door and Lift and Slide Roller Assemblies, and AAMA 907, Voluntary Specification for Corrosion Resistant Coatings on Carbon Steel Components Used in Windows, Doors and Skylights. International Code Council launches “Code on a Mission” challenge urging adoption of modern energy efficiency codes

The International Code Council launched its “Code on a Mission” challenge yesterday which aims to have over a third of the U.S. population covered by the 2021 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) by the end of 2023. Already industry leaders like Architecture 2030, the Institute for Market Transformation (IMT), Energy Efficient Codes Coalition (EECC), Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships (NEEP), National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) and Responsible Energy Codes Alliance (RECA) have shown their support for the initiative.

Total construction starts slip in June

Total construction starts lost 7% in June, slipping to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $863.6 billion, according to Dodge Data & Analytics. All three major sectors (residential, nonresidential building, and nonbuilding) pulled back during the month. Single family housing starts are feeling the detrimental effects of rising materials prices. Large projects that broke ground in May were absent in June for nonresidential building and nonbuilding starts, resulting in declines.
