Architecture firm continues to expand growing team with four new hires
NEW YORK – October 23, 2018 – DXA studio, a New York based architecture and design firm known for a diverse range of projects primarily in Manhattan and Brooklyn, has announced that four new members have joined their growing team. Their new hires are as follows:
Axelle Zémouli
Axelle Zémouli, Intermediate Designer
Axelle received her Bachelor of Design in Architecture with honors from the University of Florida’s School of Architecture. During her time in the four-year program, Axelle was a studio teaching assistant as well as the Editor-in-Chief of the School of Architecture’s yearly publication, Architrave, for which she collaborated with visiting professors, architects, and critics. Axelle then received her Masters of Architecture at the Columbia University GSAPP, during which she worked as a design researcher for Studio-X Beijing on its ongoing publication The Future of the Art Museum in China.
Before joining DXA Studio, Axelle worked at Hollwich Kushner Architects, where she rapidly climbed from the position of office model coordinator to intermediate designer by working on a variety of projects, most notably mid-rise mixed-use buildings, some of which required her to travel globally to coordinate local codes and building standards.
Chae Shin
Chae Shin, Junior Designer
Chae received her Bachelor’s Degree in architecture from Syracuse University’s School of Architecture. Before joining DXA studio, Chae previously worked at Jennifer Carpenter Architect on the Lower East Side, which later merged to become Verona Carpenter Architects in 2017. Over two and a half years, she was involved in all phases of the design process from conceptual to construction and had several opportunities to work on a variety of projects from retail, to hospitality, to office.
Douglas Nassar
Douglas Nassar, Junior Designer
Douglas received his Bachelor’s Degree in Design from the University of Florida, with a major in Architecture, focusing on sustainability and advanced digital architecture. During his educational experience, he was involved in multiple workshops and exhibits, and partnered with UNESCO and the Van Allen Institute, in order to conduct studies and design solutions for sea level rises and storm surges. Before joining DXA studio, Douglas worked as an architectural designer for [STRANG] architecture, for which he produced architecture within the city of Miami and on several islands in the Caribbean. Focusing on what the firm called “Environmental Modernism”, the work was inspired by mid-century Florida modernism with sustainable strategies, ranging from high-end single-family homes to condominiums.
Tale Catherine Burgess Øyehaug
Tale Catherine Burgess Øyehaug, Receptionist/Assistant Office Manager
Tale received her Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts from Sarah Lawrence College, where she studied Italian and Art History. She also studied in Florence, Italy, and during her time there, worked at Aria Art Gallery, a Florence-based art gallery specializing in contemporary art. Before joining DXA studio, Tale worked at the Ivar Aasen Centre, a museum focusing on the history and preservation of the New Norwegian language. She also interned in the photo department at CR Fashion Book, and in the PR-department of a New York-based fashion designer, eventually becoming a publicist there.
