San Diego, CA, March 25, 2019 – On Tuesday, March 26 at 2pm, Affirmed Housing, People Assisting the Homeless (PATH) Ventures, elected officials, and additional project partners will celebrate the Phase 1 Grand Opening of PATH Metro Villas.  Located at 340 N Madison Avenue in Los Angeles, PATH Metro Villas is intended to address homelessness with permanent supportive housing and on-site services.  Thoughtfully designed, Metro Villas epitomizes Affirmed Housing’s goal to create affordable housing that takes into account the quality of life of its residents.

PATH Metro Villas is a two-phase, transit-oriented development that will ultimately provide 187 affordable and permanent supportive apartments and homeless services in one location on the PATH campus.  Phase 1 of Metro Villas, the David TC Ho Family Building, is an L-shaped, five-story community featuring 65 units of affordable housing.  Fifty-one units are designated as supportive housing for individuals experiencing homelessness or chronic homelessness, and fourteen units are for low-income households earning no more than 60 percent of the area median income. Shared amenities include a communal kitchen, two rooftop terraces, laundry facilities, and bicycle parking.

The Grand Opening ceremony of Phase 1 will feature speakers:

  • Mayor Eric Garcetti, City of Los Angeles
  • Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell, City of Los Angeles
  • Supervisor Mark Ridley Thomas, County of Los Angeles
  • Joel John Roberts, CEO, PATH
  • Jimmy Silverwood, Vice President of Acquisitions & Development, Affirmed Housing
  • David Ho, the building’s namesake and a supporter of PATH Metro Villas

Additional speakers include representatives from the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles, The Los Angeles Housing + Community Investment Department, PATH Ventures, United Health Care, Enterprises Community Partners, and HUD Los Angeles.

James Silverwood, President of Affirmed Housing, states, “A person’s well-being is a complex dynamic of basics like food and shelter, and also intangibles like engagement and human connections.  We took all of these elements into account with this project.  When all phases are complete, the campus will contain open space spanning the length of the development including a central plaza designed for group gatherings with tables, barbeques, and umbrellas.”  He adds, “We congratulate PATH on this first phase of their campus expansion.”
