John Chow has joined DLR Group as a design leader in the firm’s Culture+Performing Arts Studio. Based in Dallas, Chow will collaborate with integrated design teams to grow the firm’s Culture+Performing Arts practice in Texas.
With over 25 years of experience in design, Chow has contributed to project teams in the roles of a designer, project manager, and project architect. His project portfolio encompasses civic, cultural, and education work in Australia, China, and the United States. He will lead DLR Group’s design for the Ismaili Center in Houston for the Aga Kahn, in partnership with design architect Farshid Moussavi.

Chow received a Master’s Degree in Architecture at Harvard University. He maintains an active role in the industry through extensive research and development of the latest technologies in construction and design. Currently a lecturer at the University of Texas Arlington College of Architecture, Planning and Public Affairs, he also served as a visiting associate professor from 2014-2016. Additionally, he serves as a panelist on symposiums and lectures at universities across the country including the Maryland Institute of Art and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, enabling an on-going dialogue about design that continues to inspire him.
