The American Concrete Institute (ACI) is offering a new on-demand learning course to focus on ACI 318-19, Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete and Commentary.

American Concrete Institute announces ACI 318-19 Building Code on-demand course ACI 318-19: Changes to the Concrete Design Standard” covers the major changes in the 2019 edition of ACI 318-19. All major changes in this edition of the code are presented and discussed. This includes major changes centered around the topics of higher reinforcing steel yield strengths for many applications and the associated design provision changes; the addition of shotcrete provisions; deep foundation provisions; seismic requirements for deep foundations and other applications; vertical seismic motions; nonlinear analysis for seismic design; modification to development length equations; and updated shear design provisions and equations.

The new ACI 318-19 Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete contains some of the most significant technical changes since the 1971 code, and more than 100 additional pages of provisions compared to the 2014 code. The first to be published since the format of ACI 318 was reorganized in 2014, it is anticipated that it will be referenced in the 2021 International Building Code. Now containing full color three-dimensional illustrations to improve clarity, ACI 318-19 features clear language and style consistency and is organized so that engineers have increased confidence they have satisfied all necessary code requirements.

In addition to having the most up-to-date information, attendees receive 0.75 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for participating in the on-demand course.

As always, ACI members receive special discounts on ACI on-demand courses and seminars.  For more information visit concrete.org.
