Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art reveals plans for major expansion designed by Safdie Architects

Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art today revealed plans for an expansion that will increase the size of the current facilities by 50 percent. Ten years after completing the original design for the museum, Safdie Architects has returned to create a seamlessly integrated expansion that resonates with the existing pavilions and outdoor spaces. New structures will house additional galleries, educational facilities, event spaces, a café, and new indoor and outdoor gathering spaces.

The Dodge Momentum Index increases in March

The Dodge Momentum Index, issued by Dodge Data & Analytics, moved 1.7% higher in March to 151.4 from the revised February reading of 148.8. According to the March data, the Index hit its highest level since the summer of 2018 as a result of an increase in institutional projects that entered the planning stage, and which came on the heels of a similar gain for the sector in February. While healthcare and lab projects continue to dominate institutional planning, March saw a more broad-based selection of project types including education and recreation buildings.

The Cool Roof Rating Council publishes ANSI/CRRC S100-2021 standard

The Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC) announces the release of the 2021 edition of the ANSI/CRRC S100 standard (formerly the CRRC-1 Standard), which received approval from the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) on March 29, 2021. The ANSI/CRRC S100 standard is an American National Standard that provides a consistent reference in building energy codes and voluntary green building programs—such as the International Energy Conservation Code, ASHRAE 90.1, and the International Green Construction Code—regarding the measurement of the surface radiative properties of roofing materials.
