Renowned architect Murat Tabanlıoğlu is modernizing the cultural center his father, Dr. Hayati Tabanlıoğlu, once designed in the 1960s, and again in the 1970s after his first design burnt down. The Ataturk Cultural Center will be the new centrally located home for Istanbul’s arts and culture scene of twenty-first century Istanbul. Not only will the new center have one of the largest opera houses in the world but it will also provide art galleries, libraries, cafes and restaurants for visitors.

When development firm Vulcan Real Estate asked world-renowned artist Spencer Finch to design an architectural canopy to connect the two new office buildings at the center of Amazon’s expanded headquarters campus in Seattle, his first course of action was a walk in the woods. Such was born Finch’s “There Is Another Sky.” Situated four stories above an outdoor plaza, the decorative canopy features an abstract circular design pattern imprinted on technographic interlayer film by Goldray Glass and then laminated between two lites of Starphire® glass by Vitro Architectural Glass.

Receiving the top award, AeroBarrier is being called the decade’s most disruptive energy efficiency product.  Mandalay Homes, an Arizona homebuilder, uses Aerobarrier on all new homes.  Geoff Ferrell, Chief Technology Officer at Mandalay Homes says, “AeroBarrier is the key for us building net-zero homes as a standard feature.  Before AeroBarrier, it was not financially feasible or practical on a mass scale.”

The initiative is partnered with the “Restore the Northshore: Adopt-A-Spot Bald Cypress Tree Planting Project” to help rebuild part of Louisiana’s coastline.
