Seattle Playground at Upstream Music Festival & Summit
Program elements for the 1,600-square-foot pavilion included spaces for lounging, display of a custom mural, a bar to serve food and drink, space for an artist to create an in-situ art work, monitors for showing short films, and room for an orchestra to play! The pavilion—located within the main festival grounds just north of Century Link Stadium—was part of a group of art installations and tents housing festival activities. Seattle Playground was conceived as an open-to-the-elements structure, though provision was made for weather protection, which turned out to be necessary as rain showers occurred during the festival.

First half 2017 commercial and multifamily construction starts across top metropolitan areas
During the first half of 2017, eight of the top ten metropolitan markets for commercial and multifamily construction starts ranked by dollar volume registered decreased activity compared to a year ago, according to Dodge Data & Analytics. At the same time, metropolitan markets ranked 11 through 20 showed growth for nine of the ten markets, as smaller geographic areas are picking up the slack from the deceleration underway in those cities that have led the commercial and multifamily upturn over the past several years.

The Center’s refreshed exterior seamlessly blends with its lush surroundings, including an added green gathering space for entertainment and cultural programming. On Buildings A and C, designed by Architects Hawaii Ltd. (AHL), skylight systems by Super Sky Products Enterprises, LLC showcase natural light and views. Linetec painted the skylight’s aluminum framing members in a durable, 70 percent PVDF resin-based coating to protecting against the intense sunlight, heavy rains, high humidity and salt spray.
