CRRC to rate exterior wall products

The Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC) Board of Directors affirmed the organization’s commitment to urban heat island mitigation and building energy efficiency in its approval of a new CRRC rating program for exterior wall products on September 24, 2020. The CRRC Wall Product Program will be the first rating system in the world for exterior wall products. The CRRC is working in collaboration with industry and end users on the development of the program, including the testing and weathering protocols that are appropriately suited for exterior paints, vinyl siding, and other wall claddings.

Iconic Tammany Hall in Union Square is unveiled

The completely upgraded Tammany Hall as 44 Union Square in New York City is now a Class A commercial building with a restored historic street façade and a three-story glass and steel dome addition. The dome features 19-foot ceilings and creates a unique, light-filled space with soaring views overlooking Union Square and beyond. BKSK designed a stunning and effective space, taking inspiration for the dome’s design from the property’s historical association with the Tammany Society, which was named after Chief Tamanend – the respected leader of the Lenape People – who signed a treaty of peaceful coexistence with William Penn in 1680.

After careful consideration, the International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (IIBEC) announced yesterday that the annual Building Enclosure Symposium (BES+) will be presented in an all-virtual format over two weeks in mid-November. Construction commences on award-winning tower The Wedge

The Wedge, a sustainable new residential tower by Cox Developments in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada has commenced construction. The highly sustainable development was designed to achieve LEED Platinum certification, with numerous eco-friendly elements like water conservation, active on-site power generation, sustainable materials, natural ventilation, daylighting, and strategic sun control to name a few.  The Wedge will also offer ground-floor commercial space.  The development was designed by San Diego and Vancouver-based AVRP Skyport and is being built by Blackrete Builders Inc.  Construction commenced August 1 2020, and is anticipated to be complete early 2023.

CU Denver new City Heights Residence Hall celebrates official “topping out”

The University of Colorado Denver (CU Denver) reached a major milestone, as it celebrated its official “topping out” for its new City Heights Residence Hall and Learning Commons. The 182,000-square-foot residence hall, which will represent the first on-campus student housing complex for the university, will add approximately 555 beds to the center of the urban campus. The project is being delivered by the JE Dunn/Stantec design-build team.

American Society of Interior Designers looks to the future of design, industry and profession in new resiliency report

As all industries tackle the ongoing effects of COVID-19, the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) has sought to understand the resiliency of the design industry and profession through times of uncertainty.
