American Society of Interior Designers names 2020 College of Fellows

The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID)​ has announced the 2020 inductees to its College of Fellows. This year’s Fellows are set to be honored Sunday, March 29 at a luncheon together with ASID’s Ones to Watch at The WELL Conference.​ The 2020 College of Fellows inductees are: Dr.​ Rose Mary Botti-Salitsky, Ph.D., ASID, NCIDQ (program coordinator and faculty, University of Massachusetts Dartmouth), Benjamin​ Huntington, ASID, NCIDQ, NYS CID,​ (owner, Veritate Design LLC) and AJ​ Paron-Wildes, Allied ASID, WELL AP, LEED AP ID+C (national director, Design Public Group).​

Solar carving, SOLARBAN 60 glass create dimension, energy savings for Chicago’s Solstice on the Park

Wellness-focused Knot Springs flows inside Portland, Oregon’s YARD

Inspired by the natural hot springs of the Alvord Desert, Skylab-designed Knot Springs is a wellness-focused social club situated within YARD on Portland’s Central Eastside. The spa opens up to the landscape, while the club spans both the 4th and 5th levels of YARD, allowing easy movement through a central open-air hallway. Knot Springs’ palette draws inspiration from elemental materials, the pools of water and space are constructed of wood, glass, steel, and concrete.

The women in the windows

When Pittsburgh-born condiment magnate H. J. Heinz died in 1919, he left money in his will specifically for the University of Pittsburgh to erect a building on its grounds to honor his mother, Anna Margaretta Heinz.
As a result, Heinz Memorial Chapel was built during the 1930s, an elegant neo-Gothic structure with 23 stained-glass windows. Thirty-six men and 36 women are featured in the transept windows.

PPG DURANAR XL coatings add subtle elegance to Boston’s newest skyscraper

Designed by Henry Cobb of Pei Cobb Freed & Partners and Gary Johnson of Cambridge Seven, 61-story One Dalton Place features PPG Duranar XL liquid and powder coatings in a metallic pewter tint that harmonizes with the building’s sleek glass exterior. The coatings were selected to finish the metal framing for the oversized windows, as well as the metal panels and capping used on the curtainwall.
