Architecture Design Collaborative’s partners with Jamboree Housing Corporation and the Fontana Housing Authority in the construction of Sierra Avenue Apartments. “We wanted to give the development a modern agrarian look and feel to go with one of the main service concepts we originally planned for which was farm fresh to table,” said Chris Weimholt, Principal with ADC. “We planned for a robust community garden where residents could work with the JHC’s service partners to educate them on healthy eating and growing their own fruits and vegetables”.

In January 2019, the International Code Council (ICC) approved a set of proposals to allow tall wood buildings of up to 18 stories as part of the 2021 International Building Code (IBC). The Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance (FGIA) has released a new publication addressing aspects of the finite element (FE) thermal modeling process often used to predict interior surface temperatures on fenestration including non-residential windows, terrace and patio doors, curtain wall, storefront, and entrances. AAMA 515-19, Voluntary Procedure for Determination of Fenestration Surface Temperatures by THERM Finite Element Modeling, an FGIA standard, is now available.

Z Modular has commissioned robotics in its new automated manufacturing facility in Killeen, Texas, about 70 miles north of Austin. The specially developed robotics, never before used in the construction industry, ensure greater precision and accelerate production, stated the company. It is one of four Z Modular manufacturing facilities and part of a broader Z Modular® Network of factories building with the open-source Z Modular Building Ecosystem, enabling a total annual production capacity of 10 million sq. ft.

181 Fremont designed by Manus Heller Architects, a 57-story office and condominium tower sheathed in Solarban® 70 glass by Vitro Architectural Glass, was named San Francisco’s top building of the decade by the San Francisco Chronicle. Working with Hartung Glass Industries, Seattle, a member of the Vitro Certified™ Network of glass fabricators, Vitro Glass supplied more than 6,000 insulating glass units (IGUs), including hundreds of differently shaped triangles, gables and other shapes to Benson Industries, the building’s curtainwall designer, engineer and installer.
