Clark Construction delivers Alternate Care Facility for Covid-19 patients in Chicago

Clark Construction Group, in collaboration with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, has successfully transformed the MetroSouth Medical Center, a shuttered hospital south of Chicago, into an Alternate Care Facility (ACF) to treat COVID-19 patients. The MetroSouth ACF project team also includes architect Perkins and Will and MEP Engineer Salas O’Brien, as well as trade contractors Hill Mechanical, Titan Electric, RG Construction, and Consolidated Flooring.

FGIA transitions Summer Conference to virtual event

The Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance (FGIA) will hold its Summer Conference virtually due to the spread of COVID-19 and requests by government leadership to shelter-in-place. This event, previously intended to be held in Chicago, IL, will be hosted on Zoom for the convenience of participants. The event dates remain largely unchanged with the conference taking place Tuesday, June 23 through Thursday, June 25. Registration for the virtual Summer Conference will open the week of May 4.

Construction starts decline in March

“Considering the calamity that occurred towards the end of March as the fallout from the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) hit the economy, construction starts held up rather well,” stated Richard Branch Chief Economist for Dodge Data & Analytics. “Construction starts in March were unlikely to be greatly impacted as projects that broke ground during the month likely had materials sourced and in-place and labor booked well ahead of the scheduled groundbreaking.”
