Mountain Top, PA (March 2018) – Global coiling door and grille manufacturer CornellCookson announces the appointment of four new Architectural Product Reps (APRs). John Polchin, Dan Popplewell, Paul Smith and Rich Goodwin recently moved into these newly created roles, with the goal of providing assistance to architects as they design projects using coiling (or rolling) doors and grilles.
This new team will be a resource to the architectural and design (A&D) community during the time they are selecting coiling doors or grilles for their design. In addition to recommending the correct rolling closure from the Cornell and Cookson product lines, they can also work with architects to develop designs. Perhaps most importantly, they can work with architects to create up-to-date specifications – ensuring that a project’s documentation accurately outlines the desired performance and quality requirements of the application. They also have the resource of a fully staffed internal Architectural Design Support department if a custom creation is needed.
The APRs are also available to answer technical questions about product line capabilities and provide education on new product solutions, code requirements and other industry standards. They can also be contacted to provide AIA accredited continuous education credits (CES) through traditional lunch and learns.
“Combined, these four individuals bring an unprecedented 120-plus years of experience with coiling doors to the Design community,” said Sean Smith, VP of Sales “They are responsible for creating relationships with architects and spec writers, and educating them on our many new and existing product lines.”
Starting off in the Contract Engineering department in 1986, John Polchin has worked through the ranks of various departments at CornellCookson including positions in the company’s Architectural Design Support and Marketing departments. Here he developed much of the company’s technical literature and AIA/CES architectural accredited educational programs. Polchin’s expertise in fire and smoke control products prepares him well for this new role where he will partner directly with the A&D community throughout Central Texas.
Dan Popplewell has deep roots in the building product industry, spending more than 25 years in key positions at CornellCookson and other manufacturing companies. As an Architectural Product Representative, he will focus on helping architects in Chicago and surrounding areas. His 6 years of service at CornellCookson as a Regional Manager for the Western Great Lakes territory is preceded by more than 20 years at Modernfold, Inc., where he last served as Director of Business/Distributor Development.
With more than 25 years of experience in the rolling door industry, Paul Smith has spent 17 of those years as Regional Sales Manager with CornellCookson. Smith began his career at Atlas Door as a Commercial Salesman which prepared him to become the District Sales Manager of Overhead Door.
There he successfully managed the dealer base for eight years before taking on the role of Regional Sales Manager for CornellCookson. He will focus on helping architects in New York City, Washington DC, Philadelphia and surrounding areas to integrate rolling closures effortlessly into their designs.
Rich Goodwin has spent the last three decades establishing his construction and design knowledge in the building product industry. Aside from his long-standing career with CornellCookson, his tenure includes eight years as a division 08 new construction project manager in New York, Texas, and Northern California. This extensive experience as well as his expertise in the Division of the State Architect (DSA) and Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) projects allows him to guide design professionals in integrating rolling closures into their designs while collaborating closely with electrical and structural engineers.
