MBE architecture and urban development firm adds accomplished design leader to its growing practice
BOSTON – January 10, 2018 – DREAM Collaborative, a leading architecture, urban design, and development firm, is proud to welcome Jonathan Garland, Assoc. AIA, LEED AP, NOMA to its leadership team. As associate principal and director of design, Jonathan will be responsible for translating project program, scope, and design vision into exceptional, compelling design concepts and providing design leadership to ensure design intent, milestones, and deliverables are met. He will also contribute to business development, recruitment, and strategic planning for the firm.
“We are very pleased to welcome Jonathan to our firm,” said Gregory Minott, AIA, LEED AP, managing principal of DREAM Collaborative. “We created this position to increase the firm’s leadership capacity and ensure that DREAM continues to provide the highest level of design and value to our clients. I’m confident that Jonathan’s design expertise as well as his ability to forge meaningful partnerships will enhance our clients’ experience. As a firm, we are challenging conventional thinking about the built environment and empowering communities to build a stronger future, and we look forward to Jonathan’s contributions to that mission.”
To his new role, Jonathan brings a deep understanding of dense urban environments and the capacity to connect buildings to their surrounding neighborhoods to engage users and communities. Jonathan is an accomplished and versatile designer with extensive experience ranging from large scale mixed-use developments and nationally recognized projects including the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Visitor Center on the National Mall in Washington, DC, to smaller scale multifamily, K-12, commercial and worship facilities throughout the Greater Boston area.
“For me, joining DREAM Collaborative was a unique opportunity to make a meaningful social impact through transformative urban development and mission-driven design,” said Jonathan. “I am excited about my dual role here. My goal is to ensure our design work is inquiry-based, considerate of historical context and invigorated by innovative thinking. I will also be working hard to expand the firm’s capacity and create a more vibrant firm culture through my roles in recruitment, onboarding and training.”
Jonathan received a Bachelor of Architecture from the Boston Architectural College and has won numerous academic and professional design awards. He serves as the co-director of the Nominating Committee for the Boston Society of Architects (BSA) and as co-chair of the Boston chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA).
