RCI, Inc. Expands to Offer U.S. and Canadian Building Envelope Technology Symposia in 2018

For more than 20 years RCI, Inc. has annual hosted an annual symposium on building envelope design technology. In 2018, the association will offer two such events. The first will be held in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada on September 13-14.  The second event will be offered November 16-17, 2018, at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee, U.S.A.

The two-day symposium features 12 unique educational sessions presented by leading building envelope design consultants. Most programs focus on repair and sustainable design methods for strengthening and improving existing structures.

Greenbuild International Conference & Expo announced June 6 a new strategic partnership with GIGA that will integrate GIGA’s ORIGIN Data Hub with Greenbuild’s new online product gallery, Connect. UL/CLEB reviews Canadian codes, NAFS-11 supplement during AAMA Summer Conference

UL/CLEB sponsored a workshop at the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) 2018 Summer Conference in Lake Tahoe, California, clarifying what manufacturers need to know when it comes to Canadian codes and CSA A440S1-17, the Canadian supplement to the North American Fenestration Standard (NAFS)-11. Robert Jutras, principal engineer, led the overview, touching on Canadian building codes, including codes for building envelopes and fenestration.

AIA 2030 Commitment invites engineers

Engineers can now join architects in signing up for The American Institute of Architects (AIA) 2030 Commitment to measure progress towards reducing energy and carbon in the design of buildings. The program provides a framework of energy targets, metrics and a comprehensive data tool that allows signatories to the commitment to track progress towards net zero carbon by 2030. Currently there are 522 firms signed onto the 2030 Commitment. Last year, the program had 21 percent more firms actively engaged in the program and sharing annual data.
