FGIA transitions Summer Conference to virtual event

The Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance (FGIA) will hold its Summer Conference virtually due to the spread of COVID-19 and requests by government leadership to shelter-in-place. This event, previously intended to be held in Chicago, IL, will be hosted on Zoom for the convenience of participants. The event dates remain largely unchanged with the conference taking place Tuesday, June 23 through Thursday, June 25. Registration for the virtual Summer Conference will open the week of May 4.

AIA postponing Conference on Architecture 2020

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the American Institute of Architects (AIA) has made the difficult decision to postpone the AIA Conference on Architecture 2020, which will no longer take place May 14-16 in Los Angeles. AIA is currently exploring options to reschedule the event and will update members with details when available.

A New Path Forward for Tall Wood Construction: Code Provisions and Design Steps

In January 2019, the International Code Council (ICC) approved a set of proposals to allow tall wood buildings of up to 18 stories as part of the 2021 International Building Code (IBC). WoodWorks’ “A New Path Forward for Tall Wood Construction: Code Provisions and Design Steps” will introduce the new tall wood code provisions in depth in March.

Registration opens for IMPACT 2020, Ed Begley Jr. announced as keynote

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), creators of the LEED green building rating system, announced that registration is now open for IMPACT 2020. The conference will be held May 5-6, 2020 at the LEED Platinum RiverCentre in St. Paul, Minnesota, and features a keynote from actor, environmentalist and green building enthusiast Ed Begley, Jr. The IMPACT conference is the largest green building conference and expo in the Midwest and attracts building professionals, sustainability leaders and change makers from across the region.
