Sherwin-Williams microbicidal paint wins award honoring innovation

Cleveland, OH (May 31, 2017) – The Edison Awards, celebrating 30 years of honoring the best in innovation and excellence in the development of new products and services, announced Sherwin-Williams Paint Shield was voted an Edison Award Bronze Winner for innovation. The company received the award at a ceremony in New York City on April 20.

“We are constantly motivated at Sherwin-Williams to find solutions to problems and push the boundaries of what paint can do,” said Steve Revnew, senior vice president of product innovation, Sherwin-Williams. “We are honored by this recognition for creating an innovative product, especially given the high caliber of others receiving this award.”

The Edison Awards are named after Thomas Alva Edison (1847-1931) whose inventions, new product development methods and innovative achievements literally changed the world, garnered him 1,093 U.S. patents and made him a household name around the world.

“Our judges recognized Sherwin-Williams Paint Shield as a true innovation out of the many products in its category — as the first-ever, microbicidal paint created, it is very-deserving of this honor,” said Frank Bonafilia, executive director of the Edison Awards.

The ballot of nominees for the Edison Awards™ was judged by a panel of more than 3,000 leading business executives including past award winners, academics and leaders in the fields of product development, design, engineering, science and medicine.
