Raleigh-based RCI, Inc. http://rci-online.org/ will be taking U.S. Rep. David E. Price on a brief tour of Central Elementary School to showcase the importance of transparency and open-bidding in the procurement process in the construction and renovation of publicly funded projects.

Central Elementary School is currently engaged in a renovation and supports the open bidding process.

Congressman Price recently had legislative report language added to the U.S. House Appropriations bill that spoke to “Cooperative Purchasing and Multiple Award Schedule (MAS) Agreements” and the need for the “GSA (General Services Administration) to enforce any existing federal regulations that require independent design professionals be consulted on new construction and renovation projects.” (Page 51: https://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/CRPT-115hrpt792/pdf/CRPT-115hrpt792.pdf )

Those in attendance at this event will be: U.S. Rep. David E. Price (D-NC-Raleigh), Lionel van der Walt (RCI, Inc. CEO), Michael Clark (RCI, Inc. President), Ken Tyner (REI Engineers Executive Vice President and RCI, Inc. Member), Patrick Abele (Orange County Schools Chief Operations Officer) and other Orange County Schools Board members.
