Santa Ana, CA, July 12, 2018 – SVA Architects is pleased to welcome Jeff Mayer as its new Planning Director of Urban Communities. Mr. Mayer brings 35 years of experience leading multidisciplinary teams in urban placemaking. He is adept in building relationships with both public and private sector clients throughout the world. Mr. Mayer joins SVA Architects as the firm is rapidly expanding to keep up with its growing demand. In recent months, SVA’s Orange County and Oakland offices have both moved to larger spaces to accommodate the firm’s growth as it becomes increasingly well known for civic, educational, urban, and mixed-use projects.

Mr. Mayer’s creative placemaking and urban planning experience is unrivaled. He has performed planning services for various cities and agencies throughout California, including Newport Beach, Irvine, Anaheim, Los Angeles, Palo Alto, Manteca, Hercules, Oxnard, and San Diego; as well as for numerous countries including Mozambique, Uganda, Iraq, Guinea Conakry, Angola, China, Malaysia, Qatar and UAE. Mr. Mayer earned his Bachelor of Science in Planning and Landscape Architecture from the University of Virginia, and attended the University of Pennsylvania for graduate studies.
A sought-after speaker and industry expert, he has served as Chairman of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Orange County/Inland Empire District County, and has led numerous ULI conferences and advisory panels, as an International Board member of the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA), and provided expert advice to the City of San Bernardino for its Downtown Core Vision Plan. He currently serves on the LA Pershing Square RENEW Advanced Technology Advisory Committee and the UC Irvine Graduate School of Urban Planning and Public Policy Leadership Board. He has also served in various advisory roles with the ULI, TEA, and the TEA Far East Exploratory Committee.
