Atlanta, GA – (May 29, 2019)  Sto Corp., the innovative world leader in full system facades, prefabrication, air barriers, coatings, and restoration solutions, was recently honored with two 2018 Hero Awards and two Awards of Merit during the 2019 EIMA Annual Meeting.  The EIFS Industry Members Association held its awards gala on March 20 and honored outstanding projects in the EIFS industry.  Sto was the recipient of two of the five EIFS Hero Awards.

Sto Corp. received the Hero Award in the Mixed-use category for 309 E. Paces Ferry in Atlanta, GA. This project makeover of an existing building utilized the EIFS panelization process, StoPanel. To achieve the appearance of brick and granite, Sto’s innovative finishes were used. The contractor, Southern Wall Systems; distributor, Capitol Materials; owner, Knox/Redan; general contractor, Balfour Beatty, and architectural firm, Lyman Davidson Dooley, Inc. were recognized.

Its second Hero Award was in the Residential category for its work at Union, New Jersey’s Kean University freshman residence hall. This project is a hybrid EIFS project with 80% panelization and the remainder using Sto’s brick panel finish. The design and appearance of the project fit into the context of the surrounding buildings which are a part of this college’s campus. Jersey Panel was the contractor, with distributor Sto of NJ, Inc.; owner, Kean University; general contractor, Claremont Construction Group, and architectural firm, Netta Architects being recognized.

The Hyatt House in New York received an Award of Merit in the High-Rise category. This project is a 32-story tower, with glass windows and a vertical strip that has the look and feel of traditional limestone. While the stone at the base of the building is manufactured limestone panels, the cladding on the upper floors of this 300-foot high building is StoTherm ci Lotusan. Sto Limestone Finish saved the project owner’s budget, without sacrificing their desire to achieve an authentic look with curb appeal.  The contractor, ECI Contracting, LLC; distributor, S & J Supply; owner, Hyatt Corporation, and architectural firm, Nobutaka Ashibhara Architects, P.C. were also recognized.

A second Award of Merit in the Healthcare category was earned by Davita in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  This project used a Sto EIFS system with StoGuard fluid applied air and water barrier for maximum energy efficiency. Additionally, a very bright blue, which is the signature color of the project owner, was easily achieved due to the versatility of color enhancement provided by Sto. To top it off, the integration of the curtain wall with EIFS was masterful.  The contractor, Kenyon Plastering; distributor, Chaparral Materials; and general contractor, Klinger Constructors were also recognized.
