SVA Architects, Inc. is pleased to announce that it has recruited Karen Shakman, RA (Utah, Arizona), NCARB, AIA, LEED AP to its Santa Ana office. Ms. Shakman is an award-winning and published designer with a multinational background. She brings 25 years of experience to SVA, the highly successful architectural firm which has earned more than a dozen design awards this year.
Exceptionally qualified, Ms. Shakman has two bachelor’s degrees: one in Architecture and Urban Planning, and another in Industrial Design. After immigrating from Brazil to the United States in 2000, Ms. Shakman obtained her National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) certification, Professional Registration, LEED Accreditation, Evidence-Based Design Accreditation and Certification, and a Master’s in Design from Arizona State University. After 15 years in Arizona, Ms. Shakman moved to Southern California. She brings specialized experience in commercial, industrial, governmental, healthcare, retail and food service design. Her degree in Industrial Design has helped her produce creative solutions in the field of interior architecture design. Ms. Shakman has been published in Healthcare and Design Magazine, served as a speaker at a healthcare design conference, and was recognized by the American Institute of Architects’ “Impact your World” competition for her design of a patient room.
