The climate assessment report is a clarion call to action, challenging those who plan and design within built and natural environments to “mainstream adaptation and mitigation into land-use, hazard mitigation, development, and capital investment planning.” We couldn’t agree more. Landscape architects are ready and eager to contribute their wide-ranging skills and problem-solving talents to meet the many challenges brought on by climate change while improving the quality of life in communities everywhere.

The American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) has installed Shawn T. Kelly, FASLA, PLA, as its president for the 2018-2019 term. Kelly was sworn in during the October 22 President’s Dinner at the ASLA 2018 Annual Meeting and EXPO in Philadelphia. He succeeds Gregory A. Miller, FASLA.

ASLA Business Survey Shows Steady Conditions for Landscape Architecture Firms

Business is picking up for landscape architecture firms, according to the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) Business Quarterly survey for the third quarter of 2018. Based on the responses of 121 primary firm contacts, the survey indicates that billable hours and inquiries for new work have improved from the previous quarter. Hiring plans have remained steady.
