AAMA advocates on industry’s behalf at recent International Code Council Committee Action Hearings

The American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) worked on behalf of its members during International Code Council (ICC) Committee Action Hearings (CAH) April 28-May 8 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. AAMA represented its members, working with other industry groups and interested individuals to take positive action on behalf of the fenestration industry.” AAMA was able to earn committee approval on a number of proposals which had failed to earn approval in previous code cycles,” said Kathy Krafka Harkema, AAMA Codes and Regulatory Affairs Manager. “Earning committee approval on code proposals is an important step in the ICC code development process. The next hurdle AAMA will work to clear is public comment hearing approval.”

The American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) has released the “AAMA 2018/2019 U.S. Industry Statistical Review and Forecast.” This report delivers timely information on window, door and skylight market trends and product relationships. Historic data for 2010 through 2018 and forecast data for 2019 through 2021 are also included in the report.

As announced at the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) 82nd Annual Conference, the AAMA Board of Directors voted unanimously to designate former association leader Kim Flanary as an AAMA Honorary Member. Flanary, who passed away in November, is now the 14th person in the association’s history to receive honorary membership.

The American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) updated two documents for evaluating window wall, curtain wall and storefront systems when it comes to seismic drift. AAMA 501.4-18, “Recommended Static Test Method for Evaluating Window Wall, Curtain Wall and Storefront Systems Subjected to Seismic and Wind-Induced Inter-Story Drift,” and AAMA 501.6-18.”

AAMA updates guideline for developing color measurement requirements

“The CMR document is an excellent resource for identifying the six parameters that need to be called out or specified to properly and clearly measure and compare color,” said Doug Holmberg (Wausau Window and Wall Systems), Co-Chair of the AAMA Finishes Steering Committee. “This is important for both matching colors and measuring the amount of color change over time. Although the document was originally published in 2016, once in use and after additional research, the Finishes Steering Committee felt it was a good time to update the document.”

AAMA InstallationMasters New Construction Program now available

The American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) currently is planning instructor training classes for a new segment of the InstallationMasters program, which focuses primarily on new construction applications. Those interested in becoming accredited instructors for the InstallationMasters New Construction Program are encouraged to contact the association now so as many schedules as possible may be accommodated.
