In case you have not heard the news, Tennant Company (NYSE: TNC) announced the expansion of its Floor Coatings business with the July 28, 2016, purchase of assets and liabilities related to the commercial floor coatings business of from Crawford Laboratories, Inc., and affiliates, owners of the Florock Polymer Flooring brand (“Florock”) of Chicago, Illinois.

Florock, a third-generation, family-run business, offers a range of floor coating systems for a wide variety of industries. The company, founded in 1952, has been a recognized leader in the research and development, production, and installation of solutions-oriented flooring systems for commercial, industrial and institutional applications.

“The combination of Tennant Coatings and Florock enhances our ability to grow the coatings business so that we can expand our reach and strengthen our value proposition to more customers,” said Byron Smith, Vice President of Tennant Coatings. “Together, we can provide flooring contractors and their customers across a multitude of industries with the right solution, for the right environment.”

Tennant Company will retain the Florock brand and manage the Tennant and Florock brands and sales channels separately, according to Smith.

Aviva Llorens, whose grandfather, Benjamin A. Schmetterer, founded Florock, will continue with Tennant Coatings, managing key customer interactions at Florock’s Chicago headquarters.

Tennant Coatings operations will remain in Minneapolis, Minn., home to Tennant Company corporate headquarters.
