This move will expand the reach of the Code Council into strategically important markets and help to strengthen building safety worldwide

Washington, D.C. – The International Code Council has established its first overseas office in Dubai. This marks the first major achievement in the Code Council’s larger effort to increase its presence in the international marketplace.

The Dubai office provides the opportunity to build on the Code Council’s more than 25 years of work in building safety in the region. It will provide the organization with a valuable local presence to build and strengthen relationships with partners and stakeholders and identify additional opportunities to provide products and services to building safety professionals in the region.

“The Code Council has always been dedicated to promoting resiliency and safety in the built environment on a global scale,” said Judy Zakreski, the Code Council’s Vice President of Global Services. “The Dubai office, our first outside the United States, is an exciting step forward in our mission of expanding delivery of products and services internationally.”

The Code Council recently sponsored the U.S. Commercial Service’s 2019 “Discover America” campaign in the United Arab Emirates. The campaign celebrates trade, investment and cultural ties between countries in the Gulf region and the United States.

“Sponsoring the “Discover America” campaign was an important demonstration of the Code Council’s strategic partnership with the U.S. Department of Commerce International Trade Administration and commitment to sharing our thought leadership with building professionals around the world,” said Code Council Chief Executive Officer Dominic Sims, CBO. “We look forward to growing our relationships with the communities of building professionals and government advocates in the Gulf region.”

“The Code Council is an excellent partner to the U.S. Commercial Service and we are grateful for its leadership in making this year’s Discover America campaign a tremendous success,” said Thomas Bruns, Commercial Counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Abu Dhabi.  “We look forward to supporting the new office in Dubai and to strengthening our partnership and the U.S.-UAE cultural and commercial relationship.”

The Code Council also recently launched a new global website in English, Arabic and Spanish, to give global audiences greater access to information and resources on building safety. Visit https://global.iccsafe.org/ to view the new site.
