“The heart of ANSI/NSC 373 Sustainable Production of Natural Dimension Stone is continuous improvement,” says Kathy Spanier, Marketing Director of Coldspring and Chair of the Natural Stone Council (NSC)’s Sustainability Committee. “With the standard being in the market for about five years, we took feedback from certified companies as well as input from key green building programs to make necessary updates and ensure relevance.”

KAI-designed VIA Metropolitan Transit’s Brooks City Base Transit Center takes cues from World War I biplanes with its curved roof and columnar support system. The Brooks Air Force Base once located on the site was one of the first training facilities for the US Army Air Corps, dating back to December 1917.

Beyer Blinder Belle Architects & Planners’ contemporary design of the Washington Monument simultaneously meets long-term security, preservation, and operational requirements. It utilizes a geothermal heating and cooling system to minimize the visual presence of equipment. As a result, the glazed and transparent envelope affords views of the 555-foot-tall obelisk.

ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) has received accreditation from the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) and American National Standards Institute (ANSI) to provide third-party certification services to manufacturers of composite wood products.

Yesterday, the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) released the 2019 Diversity Summit Report. The report, the product of a summit held earlier this year, examines issues that African American, Latinx, Native American, and other underrepresented groups face in the landscape architecture profession.

KWK Architects/TKDA design team transforms University of Minnesota’s historic Pioneer Hall

The decision by the University’s Board of Regents in 2016 to preserve a significant amount of Pioneer Hall’s signature exterior but demolish much of its interior, offered a unique challenge to the KWK Architects/TKDA design project team. Pioneer Hall had many excellent qualities and character-defining features, including C-shaped four-story wings, slate roofs, window fenestrations and round-arched passageways.
