Maison de la Luz in New Orleans

Maison de la Luz from Atelier Ace is a new luxury guesthouse designed in collaboration by EskewDumezRipple and interior design firm Studio Shamshiri. The design team worked in tandem to transform the legacy six-story, 55,464-square-foot former City Hall annex into a sophisticated destination. Located in the warehouse district near Lafayette Square, the 1906 building was originally designed by Allison Owen of Diboll and Owen Architects in the Italianate style, typical of turn-of-the-century buildings in New Orleans.

Central Roofing re-roofs top of historic Itasca building

In the trendy North Loop section of Minneapolis, the Warehouse District is anchored by Itasca Lofts condominiums. More than 100 years old, the converted warehouse is home to 71 units plus a restaurant, comedy club and commercial space on the first floor. Six stories tall, the structure’s old roof was failing until Encompass Inc. and Central Roofing Company stepped in to help.

Glacier Eye Clinic, designed by Cushing Terrell, is a 29,000 sq. ft. building composed on a naturally sloping site, oriented to take full advantage of the views of Glacier National Park. The grand lobby was designed to capture an abundance of natural light and create a focal point and main entry that serves as a wayfinding destination throughout the large facility.

University of St. Thomas achieves top environmental rating for new residence hall

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has awarded its highest environmental rating – the LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum certification – to the University of St. Thomas’ Tommie East Residence Hall. The building is the first in the Midwest to certify platinum under the LEED v4 new construction rating system in its category, the sixth in the U.S. and seventh in the world. It marks another step in the university’s larger plan to achieve carbon neutrality by 2035.
