Berkeley YMCA – PG&E Teen Center

Berkeley YMCA – PG&E Teen Center is a collaborative reuse project designed by Berkeley-based Noll & Tam Architects with the help of the YMCA Teen Task Force to ensure that the youth viewpoint was incorporated. When Pacific Gas & Electric donated an 8,000-square-foot decommissioned payment center across from Berkeley High School, it provided the ideal mix of opportunity for adaptive reuse. The design-build team transformed the 1964 concrete office building by opening it up with glazed storefronts, a new partial third story with roof deck, and flexible interior spaces. Bright colors reflect a youthful spirit.

3 World Trade Center Opens for Business

Located at 175 Greenwich Street, 3 WTC was designed by Pritzker prize-winning architecture firm Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners.  Featuring a reinforced concrete core encased by a steel structure and defined by its load-sharing system of K-shaped bracing, the building has floor-to-ceiling glass and column-free floor plates, creating unobstructed 360-degree panoramic views of New York City.

World Architecture Festival Reveals 2018 Awards Shortlist

WAF will reconvene for its eleventh edition in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, from 28-30 November this year. This is the first time the event has been hosted in the Dutch capital, following previous editions in Barcelona, Singapore and Berlin. The 2018 awards program received more than 1,000 entries for the first time, with numbers up 20 per cent compared with 2017. Architects and designers generated 536 shortlisted entries across 81 countries.
