Hurlingham Racquet Centre’s light green roof features Kerto® LVL

The Hurlingham project in London involved the construction of a sports complex including four indoor tennis courts and four squash courts. The racquet hall, designed by David Morley Architects, is 35 meters wide and 55 meters long. The main span consists of suspended steel beams. To give the courts space and reduce the costs, the beams are spaced with large gaps of 12.9 meters. To fill these gaps, the architect wanted to see wood.

ACEC California named Sacramento’s Golden 1 Center as its 2017 Golden State Award Winner for its exceptional and unique sustainable design features. The Golden 1 Center – home of the National Basketball Association’s Sacramento Kings – was designed by AECOM in association with Henderson Engineering, Inc. and is the first indoor sports arena in the world to achieve LEED platinum certification. The Golden State Award is the highest honor ACEC California bestows as part of its Engineering Excellence Awards program.

The Jack Daniels Employee Resource Center in Lynchburg, Tennessee, is a place for employees to play a quick pick-up game or get a work-out in during the day. Years of play on the polypropylene tiles of the old converted building started to show some wear. Curling edges of the tile were a safety hazard and the thin pad under the tiles provided minimal shock absorption.  When it came time to install, refinish and repaint the floor in fall of 2016, Jack Daniels turned to Covington Flooring Company.

Accella Polyurethane Systems is proud to be a participant in the development of the new Trojan Park Playground, located in Wellston, MO. The former vacant lot was completely transformed into a state-of-the-art playground, using an all pour-in-place safety binder thanks to the efforts of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), Great Rivers Greenway, and their contributors.  Through the Parks Build Community initiative, the NRPA selects a location to restore a park in the host city of its annual conference.  This year, the NRPA decided to take on a new challenge – creating a park from scratch for the first time.

STAPLES Center and AEG tasked MEIS Architects to create and design the new looks for all 170 Private Suites and the 16 Event Suites. The unique connection with MEIS Architects is that Dan Meis, Founder and Managing Principal of MEIS Architects, was one of the original architects of STAPLES Center.  Each Private Suite has a sophisticated and contemporary feel with new carpeting, cabinet finishes, and wood grain floor tile, that all adds up to a distinctly contemporary design.  All 170 suites in the venue will be updated to reflect the state-of-the-art in-suite amenity.  Suite holders today prefer a more social, less formal vibe and a configuration that promotes interaction and casual conversation, in addition to watching the event.
