Recently opened, New York’s Lynbrook Station renewal project showcases new waiting areas and outdoor platforms for passengers taking the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR). Working closely with Zion Contracting, EXTECH/Exterior Technologies, Inc. engineered and fabricated the station’s new translucent skylight and canopy systems to shelter passengers and commuters from the sun and rain.

Stantec/Hensel Phelps team completes construction for Sound Transit’s new light rail base in Seattle area

Sound Transit recently completed construction of its new Operations and Maintenance Facility: East (OMF East), which will service, maintain, store, and deploy Link light rail vehicles for its growing fleet in the Puget Sound area. As Sound Transit’s light rail service area grows through 2024, the vehicle fleet will expand from its current 62 vehicles to 214. The facility was delivered by the design-build team of Stantec, Hensel Phelps Construction Co., and partners. Construction started in 2018.

Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority selects Hensel Phelps-Stantec design-build team for new rail facility

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) has selected the design-build team of Hensel Phelps and Stantec to design and deliver the WMATA Rail Heavy Repair and Overhaul (HRO) Facility, located in Prince George’s County, Maryland. The approximately US$225 million project will support WMATA’s goals for greater efficiency and a new process for railcar maintenance, repairs, and overall operations.

Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) revitalizes Inman Park/ Reynoldstown station’s design

The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) provided architectural direction on the 25,000-square-foot station’s $6.9 million rehabilitation, renovation, enhancement and expansion project. MARTA worked closely with Reeves Young as the general contractor and Acousti Engineering Company as the ceiling installing contractor. Rockfon’s Technical Services team provided additional support, helping MARTA with design fulfillment and Acousti with the custom fabrication and installation logistics.

Rockfon’s metal ceiling systems help Helena Regional Airport reach new heights

Montana’s Helena Regional Airport’s Passenger Terminal Expansion, opening in October 2020, added 20,000 square feet of new space and more than 300 seats inside of the secured area beyond the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoint. With these improvements, the airport will be able to simultaneously serve six aircraft and their passengers. Rockfon’s technical services team assisted architects and interior designers at CWG Architecture and PSH+ (formerly Price, Simpson & Harvey) in selecting ceiling systems, and worked closely with Just Rite in the systems’ delivery.
