MIAMI, Sept. 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — After a competitive bid process, CGA is excited to announce we have been awarded one of the five General Planning Consultant contracts for the Strategic Miami Area Rapid Transit (SMART) Plan for Miami-Dade County. Of the six rapid transit corridors identified in the solicitation, CGA is responsible for the South Dade Transitway Corridor Study; which extends approximately 20 miles from the Dadeland South Metrorail Station south to Florida City.

This contract will be managed from CGA’s Miami-Dade Office. The CGA team; led by Eric Czerniejewski, P.E., ENV SP, Director of Traffic Engineering and Alex A. David, AICP, Director of Planning Miami-Dade Office; is comprised of Tindale-Oliver & Associates; Dover, Kohl & Partners; Lambert Advisory; Florida Transportation Engineering; and Roar Media. Under this contract, the CGA team will provide professional planning and transportation services, as needed, to supplement the TPO’s efforts in conducting the transportation planning process for the SMART Plan. This includes, but is not limited to: developing a Land Use Scenario Plan, preparing informational materials; conducting planning and transportation related technical activities; Charrettes; 3D Modeling; and, public outreach.

The Strategic Miami Area Rapid Transit (SMART) Plan was officially adopted and endorsed on April 21, 2016 by the Miami-Dade Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) Governing Board. The SMART Plan encompasses the study of six rapid transit corridors (Beach Corridor, East-West Corridor, Kendall Corridor, North Corridor, Northeast Corridor and South Corridor (South Dade Transitway) in addition to the nine Bus Express Rapid Transit (BERT) corridors. The goal of these studies is to develop transit supportive land use scenarios with the ultimate goal of addressing the mobility of Miami-Dade County.
