A flagship commercial complex of Wharf in Mainland China, Chengdu IFS is located in the most coveted location within the Chunxi Road’s core business district in the heart of Chengdu. It comprises a flagship shopping mall, two premium Grade-A office buildings, Niccolo Hotel and luxury residence. Chengdu IFS is committed to build the most premium urban complex in western China, offering the most optimal and superior experience to shoppers, visitors and tenants. “We recognize the professionalism of Johnson Controls, and we also highly appreciate its contributions in realizing our commitment to green building and sustainability,” said Christina Hau, General Manager (Operations) of Wharf China Estates Limited. “In addition to improving the HVAC as well as the building controls system, which significantly improved energy efficiency, we also debugged the existing energy consumption system to reduce operational cost, improve building energy efficiency and indoor environment quality. Being the first and the largest LEED EBOM Platinum building in southwest China, Chengdu IFS has set up a milestone.”

According to the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, buildings are responsible for 27.5 percent of the total energy consumed in China. This figure is expected to be around 35 percent by 2020. On this note, to reduce carbon intensity by 48 percent by

2020 compared to that of 2005, a goal in the 13th Five-Year Plan, improving the energy efficiency of buildings is critically important.

Since 2009, Johnson Controls has provided LEED consulting and certification services to more than 50 buildings in China, covering a total of 3,255,000 square meters. In this collaboration with Chengdu IFS, Johnson Controls demonstrated its unique combination of expertise in energy consulting, HVAC and control systems. “We delivered a customized solution for Chengdu IFS including energy-efficient YORK® YK chillers; Metasys® building management system; and the Central Performance Management System (CPMS). In addition, Johnson Controls provided energy optimization service according to the actual energy consumption of Chengdu IFS,” said Eric Li, Director of After Sales & Contracting of Johnson Controls Building Efficiency. “The awarding of LEED Platinum certification to Chengdu IFS testifies to Wharf’s leadership in setting a new energy efficiency benchmark in southwest China and reflects our vision to create comfortable living through green buildings.”

Scored with 7 points plus, exceeding the Platinum Grade, Chengdu IFS achieved LEED EBOM Platinum certification, setting a good benchmark for other buildings in the region.
