I received this press release yesterday and wanted to publish this as gender equality is something for which we women still strive.  Kim Wright is an example of the strides women have made in a once predominantly male dominated world, and also a role model to younger women who might be hesitant to dip their toes into the building world. Words of wisdom women: don’t just hang your feet over the edge, jump in!

Philadelphia (April 2016) — Wright Commissioning, the Philadelphia region’s only independent building commissioning firm, has been certified as a Minority Business Enterprise by the National Minority Supplier Development Council, Eastern Division. The MBE certification makes the firm eligible for various civic, municipal and government projects.

“As a woman and a double minority, I’m pleased with the certification and am hopeful that it will enhance the success of our business,” said Kim Wright, CEO, a Hispanic- and Asian-American. “But it continues to be true that many woman and minority-owned businesses have a long way to go to achieve revenues on par with male and non-minority owned firms.”

To qualify for MBE certification, a business must be 51% owned, operated and controlled by a member of an identified minority group. The business must be a for-profit enterprise that physically resides in the United States or one of its territories.
