Firestone Building Products Company, LLC (Firestone) announced that it is expanding its global manufacturing capabilities with the construction of manufacturing space in Heinsberg, Germany. The new facility, which will establish a European insulation manufacturing and distribution presence for Firestone, positions the company to better serve the European construction market. Firestone is a subsidiary of Bridgestone, the world’s largest tire and rubber company.

“The Heinsberg location will be the second European manufacturing facility for the company. We acquired the Giscosa EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) plant in Terrassa, Spain in 2013,” said Troy Geuther, managing director of international operations and vice president, Firestone Building Products. “The new facility will expand production and distribution of polyiso foam, the company’s polyiso foam insulation used in commercial construction.”

“The investment in expanded manufacturing capacity for our Firestone roofing insulation products is a key part of our overarching strategy to grow our business and ensure we are meeting the needs of our European and global customers,” said Tim Dunn, president of Firestone Building Products. “We are excited to work with our local business partners and government officials to expand our global operations in Heinsberg.”

The facility is expected to be fully operational in 2018.
