The American Institute of Architects (AIA) announced Wednesday the latest numbers for the AIA’s Architecture Billings Index (ABI) for June. According the report demand for services decreased in June to 49.1, in comparison to 50.2 in May.

AIA mourns death of Philip Freelon, FAIA

“We are saddened to learn of the loss of notable architect Phil Freelon, FAIA,” said AIA EVP/Chief Executive Officer Robert Ivy, FAIA. “Phil was a trailblazer in the architecture community and a pioneer of public spaces. Slight rebound for architecture billings in April

Following a sizable decrease in demand for design services in March, AIA’s April Architecture Billings Index (ABI) climbed back into positive territory according to a new report announced May 22. The score for April showed a slight increase in design services to 50.5 in April, and business conditions remained positive in the South.

AIA awards four projects with research grants

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) announced recipients of its Upjohn Research Initiative grants. Four projects will each receive up to $30,000 in grants for research that will advance the future of architectural design and practice. The AIA Upjohn Research Initiative supports applied research projects that enhance the value of design and professional practice knowledge.

State-of-the-art schools and learning centers honored with AIA’s 2019 Education Facility Design Awards

The American Institute of Architects’ (AIA) Committee on Architecture for Education (CAE) announced last month that it is recognizing nine projects for state-of-the-art designs of schools and learning centers. The Education Facility Design Award jury selected four facilities for its Awards of Excellence and five projects for its Awards of Merit.
