$25.4 million award to Santa Ana’s Legacy Square helps bring affordable TOD apartments

In June, the California Strategic Growth Council approved a $25.4 million award to bring Legacy Square in Santa Ana, CA to fruition.  Designed by SVA Architects, the property located at 609 N. Spurgeon Street is owned by the Santa Ana United Methodist Church.  The Church teamed with National CORE, the City of Santa Ana, and Mercy House to deliver much-needed affordable housing to the downtown area.

SVA Architects receives seven PCBC Gold Nugget honors

Demonstrating its commitment to community for an array of design types, SVA Architects, Inc. announced last week that it has earned six 2020 Gold Nugget Awards of Merit and a Judge’s Special Award. Typically, the awards ceremony is part of the annual PCBC® conference and trade show (formerly known as the Pacific Coast Builders Conference), which was cancelled this year due to COVID.  The Gold Nugget Awards will instead be a virtual event on July 24, with the awards presentation beginning at 5 p.m.

SVA Architects announced last week that it has moved its Oakland operations to a new office, now located at 2030 Franklin Street, Suite 210.  The firm’s new space is located 0.4 mile from its former address, allowing many staff members to continue biking or walking to/from work.

Twin Oaks Senior Residence Mixed-Use Project in Oakley, Calif. to break ground in second half of 2020

SVA Architects’ design for the Twin Oaks Senior Residence Mixed-Use Project in Oakley, Calif. was inspired by the regional architecture, including City Hall, the downtown plaza, and Fire Station 51.  The Spanish-revival style development will feature a red tiled roof, white and earth-tone stucco, and stone veneer. The project will also include 5,667 sq. ft. of commercial space, 188 parking spaces, and over 63,000 sq. ft. of open space on the 5.85-acre site.

SVA Architects’ design for Sacramento’s Mirasol Village approved

On Thursday, February 27, the Sacramento Planning Commission approved SVA Architects’ site plan and design reviews for the last two primary blocks of the Mirasol Village redevelopment.  Formerly known as Twin Rivers, the Sacramento public housing community and the surrounding River District neighborhood will be transformed into a fully connected, vibrant community with new transit, employment centers, services, retail, and recreational amenities.
