The American Society of Landscape Architects is issuing a social-media invitation to “Celebrate World Landscape Architecture Month” with sharing of outdoor designed spaces from around the world.
April is World Landscape Architecture Month, a global celebration of landscape architecture, ASLA said in announcing the celebration.
“The American Society of Landscape Architects wants you to join the celebration by sharing your favorite outdoor designed space” on social media with #WLAM2016, the organization said.
“Landscape architecture encompasses all outdoor designed spaces. From Central Park in New York to your favorite local park or bike trail, landscape architects design the places that make the outdoors fun, healthy and sustainable,” ASLA said in inviting postings.
“World Landscape Architecture Month is an excellent opportunity to see the beautiful, innovative and sustainable work of landscape architects from around the globe,” said Nancy Somerville, Hon. ASLA, executive vice president and CEO of ASLA. “It’s also a lot of fun.”
The work of landscape architects will be on display on Tuesday, April 12, when WTTW’s “10 Parks That Changed America” debuts on PBS. The program will follow the evolution of parks and public spaces from across the country. “From the squares of Savannah, Georgia to the High Line in New York City, this series illustrates how landscape architecture shapes how we interact with our environment,” ASLA said.
