AIA 2030 Commitment expands beyond 400 architecture firms

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) today announced publication of 2030 by the numbers, the 2016 progress report assessing the work of architecture firms that are part of the AIA 2030 Commitment, a voluntary initiative to commit their practices to advancing the AIA’s goal of carbon-neutral buildings by the year 2030. ASLA survey uncovers bright spots for landscape architecture firms

General business conditions contained some bright spots for landscape architecture firms during the second quarter of 2017, according to the latest ASLA’ Business Quarterly survey. Firms reported a jump in billable hours, although inquiries for new work dipped slightly. Plans to hire remained steady.

June construction starts climb 4 percent

June construction starts climb 4 percent

New construction starts in June grew 4% from the previous month to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $679.9 billion, according to Dodge Data & Analytics.  Nonresidential building increased 13% in June, strengthening after two months of lackluster activity, and the nonbuilding construction sector rose 8% with the help of elevated activity for electric utilities.  However, residential building slipped 4% in June, as both sides of the housing market (single family and multifamily) retreated.

KTGY earned top honors in the prestigious Gold Nugget Awards design and planning competition for site planning and architecture for attached, detached and an innovative net-zero energy concept home that was on display at 2016 Greenbuild Conference in Los Angeles. KTGY’s awards totaled three Grand Gold Nugget Awards and eight Merit honors in the annual Gold Nugget competition.
