Palm Springs ‘Agrihood’ wins top masterplan awards

Miralon, the sustainably designed “agrihood” community in Palm Springs, has received a sweeping set of 2021 Gold Awards, the top honor bestowed by PCBC – representing the best of the building industry. Sharing in the honors are: Robert Hidey Architects (RHA) which also helped conceive Miralon’s progressive land plan as well as the community’s overall design guidelines; ANDERSON | architecture + interiors & MRY, designer of Miralon Club interiors: and C2 Collaborative, creator of multiple outdoor spaces and linking with Miralon’s network of trails and the entire Miralon land plan, highlighted by the transformation of the former golf course.

Resilient masterplan in Los Angeles will create human-scaled mixed-use neighborhood

Continuum Partners and Los Angeles Cold Storage have submitted a development application with the City of Los Angeles to reimagine a Downtown gateway site. The project, dubbed Fourth & Central, calls for 1,521 residential units, 401,000 square feet of creative office space, 93,000 square feet of retail/restaurant use, and a 68-room hotel. The project’s master plan and project architecture are by Los Angeles-based Studio One Eleven. Two marquee buildings are designed by David Adjaye.

Stantec unveils concept designs for Battery Coastal Resilience Project in Lower Manhattan

Stantec has released concept design renderings for the $129 million Battery Coastal Resilience Project in Lower Manhattan. The Battery currently sits at an elevation that will be submerged as sea levels rise. As part of the project, the wharf at the southern tip of Manhattan will be reconstructed, raising the waterfront esplanade approximately 5 feet above its current elevation—11 feet above Mean Sea Level—to protect the park and nearby community.

Affirmed Housing hosts virtual grand opening celebration for ‘Aria,’ bringing Prop HHH supportive housing to Los Angeles

Last week, Affirmed Housing and its development partners hosted a virtual Grand Opening celebration for Aria, a permanent supportive housing community designed to reduce homelessness in Los Angeles. Mayor Eric Garcetti of the City of Los Angeles, states, “Aria is a home for 56 of our most vulnerable neighbors. More than a place to stay in recovery, it’s a place to rebuild and reimagine a prosperous and stable life, to renew the promise of better days ahead. Some of the world’s leading design influencers collaborated on Miralon Club. The architecture is by Robert Hidey Architects, (RHA) which also helped conceive Miralon’s progressive plan transforming the golf course, as well as the community’s overall design guidelines.

Pease Park in Austin, Texas

To establish a comprehensive approach for the park’s rehabilitation, preservation, and the enhancement of its cultural, recreational, and natural features, Pease Park Conservancy hired Clayton Korte in 2014 to design a Master Plan for the park with urban planning and landscape architecture firm Wallace, Roberts & Todd.
