The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) Foundation, HomeAdvisor, and the National Building Museum announce the Making Room: Housing for a Changing America Student Design Competition.
The American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) recognized the contributions and achievements of its members and congratulated award winners at the 81st Annual Conference Awards Banquet held Tuesday night in Orlando.
Janice Yglesias has been promoted to be the American Architectural Manufacturers Association’s (AAMA) executive vice president, as approved by the association’s board of directors. Yglesias previously served as association services director before taking on this new position.
Last month, The Affordable Housing Design Leadership Institute and Klyde Warren Park were selected as the 2018 recipients of the Collaborative Achievement Award. This award recognizes and encourages distinguished achievements of allied professionals, clients, organizations, architect teams, knowledge communities, and others who have had a beneficial influence on or advanced the architectural profession.

This is part of Current Work, a lecture series featuring leading figures in the worlds of architecture, urbanism, design, and art.
Daylighting information previously included as a fact sheet has been updated and posted as a web page by the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA). This daylighting-focused web page focused on daylighting and energy savings addresses key differences between fenestration products installed primarily vertically (windows, doors, curtain walls and storefronts) and those installed primarily overhead [skylights, roof windows and tubular daylighting devices (TDDs)] and their relation to daylighting and energy savings.
The 2018 Sherwin-Williams Student Design Challenge is accepting submissions for residential and commercial projects through March 15. “Sherwin-Williams is proud to encourage excellence among the future leaders of the interior design industry,” said Sue Wadden, director of color marketing for Sherwin-Williams. “The Student Design Challenge provides students a unique opportunity to showcase their work to top designers and celebrates their creativity.”

This “Bilbao Effect” is appealing to many urban planners and politicians who look to better position their cities in economic and social terms by building exceptional architectural projects. Researchers at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) have studied three projects to investigate whether or not the desired effects materialize.
