RDC opens San Diego office

RDC, has opened offices in San Diego at 101 West Broadway in downtown San Diego, and has named RDC Principal Sean Slater, AIA, as Principal-In-Charge of the new office. Under the leadership of Slater and RDC Senior Principal Mitra Esfandiari, AIA, the design staff at the firm’s Long Beach headquarters has created a portfolio of San Diego projects that includes the multi-phase repositioning of Del Mar Highlands Town Center, the redevelopment of Horton Plaza, renovations at Fashion Valley Mall, new mixed-use at Costa Verde Center, and several new high-rise multifamily communities in early planning phases.

State-of-the-art Allegiant Stadium kicks off with PPG coatings

PPG yesterday announced that most of the Allegiant Stadium’s interior, exterior and structural surfaces were finished with PPG paints, coatings and specialty materials. “It’s been incredible to see a wide range of PPG coatings come together in the design and construction of Allegiant Stadium,” said Bryan Iams, PPG vice president, corporate and government affairs. “We are extremely proud that our paints, coatings and specialty materials have played a central role in the design and construction of this extraordinary facility.

CU Denver new City Heights Residence Hall celebrates official “topping out”

The University of Colorado Denver (CU Denver) reached a major milestone, as it celebrated its official “topping out” for its new City Heights Residence Hall and Learning Commons. The 182,000-square-foot residence hall, which will represent the first on-campus student housing complex for the university, will add approximately 555 beds to the center of the urban campus. The project is being delivered by the JE Dunn/Stantec design-build team.

Sustainable Energy Fund’s new net-zero energy office building designed by Ashley McGraw Architects

Working with the goal set by the Sustainable Energy Fund (SEF), a new net-zero energy office building was designed and built to demonstrate that a net-zero energy approach can be used for a leasable office building for a similar development cost to comparable office buildings. “This project provides a blueprint for achieving net-positive energy within the financial structure of a speculative building,” said Andrew Schuster, Ashley McGraw Principal and leader of the firm’s commercial architecture practice.
