thyssenkrupp Elevator completes construction on core of the highest test tower in the Western Hemisphere

Slip-form construction of thyssenkrupp Elevator’s Innovation and Qualification Center (IQC) and elevator test tower has been completed. The IQC is part of thyssenkrupp Elevator’s new North American headquarters at The Battery Atlanta and, at 420 feet tall, will be the tallest building in Cobb County as well as the tallest elevator test tower in the Western Hemisphere.

Twin Oaks Senior Residence Mixed-Use Project in Oakley, Calif. to break ground in second half of 2020

SVA Architects’ design for the Twin Oaks Senior Residence Mixed-Use Project in Oakley, Calif. was inspired by the regional architecture, including City Hall, the downtown plaza, and Fire Station 51.  The Spanish-revival style development will feature a red tiled roof, white and earth-tone stucco, and stone veneer. The project will also include 5,667 sq. ft. of commercial space, 188 parking spaces, and over 63,000 sq. ft. of open space on the 5.85-acre site.

Morphosis to design new lululemon Store Support Centre in Vancouver

Morphosis will design a new corporate home, the Store Support Centre, for lululemon, the healthy lifestyle-inspired athletic apparel retailer in Vancouver, British Columbia. Morphosis will collaborate with L.A.-based architecture and interior design firm Clive Wilkinson Architects and Vancouver-based Francl Architecture for the project. The exterior façade will feature a high-performance brise-soleil system that limits solar heat gain to reduce energy consumption and to modulate the interior building climate for occupants, while also opening views of the surrounding environment.

Zaha Hadid Architects to build CECEP’s new Shanghai headquarters

Zaha Hadid Architects has been selected to build the new Shanghai headquarters of the China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group (CECEP). The project has been designed to be the ‘greenest’ building in the city with sustainability embedded into every aspect of its design and construction to achieve more than 90 credits in China’s exacting Three Star Green Building Rating system – the highest score for any building in Shanghai.

Clark Construction delivers Alternate Care Facility for Covid-19 patients in Chicago

Clark Construction Group, in collaboration with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, has successfully transformed the MetroSouth Medical Center, a shuttered hospital south of Chicago, into an Alternate Care Facility (ACF) to treat COVID-19 patients. The MetroSouth ACF project team also includes architect Perkins and Will and MEP Engineer Salas O’Brien, as well as trade contractors Hill Mechanical, Titan Electric, RG Construction, and Consolidated Flooring.

Yuba Water Agency Board hires DLR Group for master plan

The Yuba Water Agency Board of Yuba County, Calif., has selected DLR Group for visioning and master planning services to develop a modern, sustainable, and interactive Water Education Center. The new facility will be part of the Yuba Watershed Experience, an initiative to educate local students and patrons about the impact of the Yuba River watershed on the environment, flooding, water supply, and more, and subsequently, the impact to the community.
