In Memoriam: Edward K. Rice

Edward K. Rice, founder and Honorary Chairman of CTS Cement Manufacturing Co, passed away May 9 in his Los Angeles home. Ed’s innovative work on cement and concrete led him to receive many industry awards. In 2013, he received an Honorary Membership in the ASTM C01 Committee on Cement. He was a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers and a Fellow and Honorary Member of the American Concrete Institute. He was elected as an inaugural member of the Hall of Fame of the Post-Tensioning Institute (Legends of Post-Tensioning) in 2005.

Barrington 220 School District to update learning environments

DLR Group is partnering with Barrington 220 School District in Illinois to update learning environments and improve safety and security measures at its 12 school facilities. Located approximately 35 miles northwest of Chicago, the district serves nearly 9,000 students in grades pre-K through 12. Enhancements include new instructional spaces at all elementary schools for STEM education and students with special needs, new classrooms at both middle schools, and an addition at Barrington High School.
